Fallen officers remembered in Black Hawk County

Fallen officers from Black Hawk County are also being honored Tuesday.

Dozens gathered at the Waterloo Veteran's Memorial Hall at 10:00 Tuesday morning. The names of fallen officers were read aloud and roses were presented in their memory. It's recognition of those who died while serving their community.

"Being a police officer is a tough job. We have to recognize that there are days when they make the ultimate sacrifice and that as citizens, we need to support them everyday," said State Senator Jeff Danielson, (D) Cedar Falls.

The State of Iowa is remembering two law enforcement officers who died in the past year: Officer Roger Hildreth and Trooper Mark Toney.

President Kennedy proclaimed every May 15th a day to honor safety officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
