West Delaware on "restricted access" as search continues for person of interest

MANCHESTER (KWWL) -

West Delaware Community School District superintendent Kristen Rickey says the district's three schools are all under restricted access on Monday. This is not a lock down situation. Rickey said the school day is functioning as normal. Rickey said Manchester police told district officials the threat to the community and schools is very low. The schools are in restricted access mode as a precautionary measure.

Normally, visitors can enter the schools' front entrances. The high school has two entrances. In restricted access mode, all doors are locked and visitors must call the main office and an administrator will let them in. The high school also has increased police presence.

As for whether this will continue, the superintendent said district officials will meet with law enforcement officials to determine what to do in coming days if 17-year-old Isaiah Sweet remains missing.

Sweet is wanted by Manchester police as a person of interest in a double murder investigation. Neighbors say Sweet was the grandson of the couple that own the home where the bodies were found. Police have not released the identities of the victims. Sweet's friends and acquaintances at the scene Sunday said Sweet would have been a junior at West Delaware High School, but he dropped out this school year.
