CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids boy with a severe case of epilepsy received a special gift Wednesday for his 13th birthday.

Adam Todd has been living with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome since he was three.

Wednesday, Todd was surprised with a custom tandem bike that he can ride along with his parents.

The expensive gift was made possible by funds through the Saint Luke's Health Care Foundation.

"We can't ride bikes together and he keeps growing out of his bike he has now with training wheels. So for the first time since he was a baby, we can go on a bike ride together," Sara Todd, Adam's mother, said.

The special bike gives Todd an up front view and also has lockable pedals in case he begins to seizure and the other rider needs full control.
