Annual Give-A-Hoot 5K and fun run June 10 in Waverly


Your chance to help Self Help International in Waverly is coming up soon, with the 3rd annual Give-a-Hoot and Little K one mile kid's fun run June 10th in Waverly.

This family-friendly event will take place at the popular Kohlman Park in downtown Waverly. The events will start with registration at 10:00 am for runners and walkers who haven't registered in advance.

At 11:00 am, it's the Little K mile fun run for kids ages 3 to 12. Adult supervision will be required for the fun run. The 5K run will start at 11:30 am. Both events will provide runners and walkers with a wonderful scenic route along the Cedar River.

Self help International is a non-profit Waverly-based organization, which works with impoverished families and children in Ghana, West Africa and Nicaragua, Central America. 

The goal is to alleviate hunger and encourage self-sufficiency through sustainable farming, children's nutrition and women's micro-credit programs.

All proceeds from the 5K and Little K fun run will benefit Self help International projects in those nations. For more details and to register in advance, go to:
