UPDATE: Charges will not be filed in Rudd shooting

The Floyd County Attorney says charges will not be filed in a shooting near Rudd last month that claimed the life of a Mason City teen.

Deputies were called to the home at 1545 Foothill Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. on April 22.  Officials said 17-year-old Hunter True was shot in the stomach with a .22 caliber rifle.

True was taken to a Mason City hospital where he later died.

Deputies confirmed that two other 17-year-old boys and a 19-year-old woman were in the home at the time of the shooting.

Normand Klemesrud, Floyd County Attorney, says that True and Nicklaus Lala were both handling the gun and the shooting was accidental.  He adds that Lala is the person who called for the ambulance.

Klemesrud says there is no probable cause for filing charges.
