Controversy over gay Iowa teen's scholarship

A teenager in Clinton won a college scholarship for promoting equality and tolerance at his school, but he says the high school is showing a lackluster response to his achievement.

Keaton Fuller is headed to the University of Iowa next year after he graduates from Prince of Peace in Clinton.

Fuller won a $40,000 Matthew Shepard scholarship, an award honoring another gay teen who died as the result of a hate crime.

While Fuller can keep the money, the bishop will not allow the Matthew Shepard Foundation to formally present the scholarship because the bishop says the foundation's teachings contradict the Catholic Church.

Instead, a school staff member will make the announcement.
