WATERLOO (KWWL) -
"I graduated from high school
and never had a party or cake to celebrate my achievement," says a former Iowa foster care youth. Cedar Valley's
Promise wants to make sure that scenario never happens again.
That's why Cedar Valley's
Promise https://sites.google.com/a/cedarvalleyspromise.org/www/ will team up the Iowa Department of Human Services
and Hawkeye Community College May 18 for a special
program called ‘Celebrating Our Youth.'
It will be a graduation celebration for
area students who are still in the Iowa
foster care system. The public is invited to help these remarkable Iowa high school students celebrate their graduation on
Friday, May 18, 5-6:30 pm, in the Brock Student center at the Hawkeye Community College
main campus on Orange Road.
Anyone interested in being a sponsor for this event or a donor to help these
students can contact Diane Derifield at Cedar Valley's
Promise. You can contact Diane Derifield by telephone at 319-291-2603, Ext. 1.
