Two Cedar Rapids schools rank in the top three Iowa High Schools

Two schools in the Cedar Rapids Community School district are being recognized as the best three high schools in Iowa.

U.S. News is calling George Washington High School the number one ranking high school in the state. Next up is Cedar Rapids' John F. Kennedy High School, then Ames High School.

Nationwide, George Washington ranked at 555, JFK ranked 702, and Ames ranked 790.

The ranking was based on Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED) scores as well as the participation rate and scores on college-level AP exams.
