Two crashes with injuries on Highway 218 in Johnson County

A total of four people are injured after two separate crashes on Highway 218 in Johnson County.

The first crash happened just after 5 p.m. Friday.

The Iowa State Patrol reports 41-year-old Billie Sue Hostetter of Burlington was driving southbound when she suffered a seizure and drove off the road. The car struck the cable barrier in the median, entered the ditch and came to rest in a creek.

Hostetter and a passenger, 44-year-old Ernie Hammond of West Burlington, were both taken to a hospital.

Two more people were injured about an hour later after a crash north of the Hills exit on Highway 218.

Authorities say a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Dan Wright of Coralville failed to stop for traffic.

Vehicles were stopped for the accident that happened earlier.

Wright crashed into the back of a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Roberta Olson of Iowa City.

Olson's vehicle was then pushed into a third vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Jesse Strahn of Cedar Rapids.

Dan Wright and Roberta Olson were taken to the hospital for injuries.
