DES MOINES (KWWL) -
Governor Terry Branstad has signed a new 911 law to improve the effectiveness and response time of 911 services.
The legislation provides more investment for area 911 dispatch centers, saving property taxpayers money, along with starting a study to generate ideas about how to modernize 911 in Iowa in the future.
Cedar Falls senator Jeff Danielson pushed for the legislation. Danielson is also a firefighter.
"Keeping our citizens safe now and in the future means keeping up with changing technology and ensuring a hassle free, seamless service with the wide variety of emergency responders," Danielson said.
