DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

A Dubuque man was injured Tuesday night after a stabbing at his home.

Wednesday morning, Dubuque police identified the man as 53-year-old Michael Curran.

At 10:52 p.m. Tuesday, Dubuque police responded to a call of a stabbing at 1270 Mt. Pleasant Street. Police found homeowner Michael Curran suffering from apparent stab wounds to the abdominal area. The Dubuque Fire Department took him to the Finley Hospital for treatment of what police are calling non life-threatening injuries.

The lieutenant on the scene Tuesday night said Curran and his wife live in the home. He said the wife was at work at the time of the stabbing. A little before midnight, the wife arrived on the scene and spoke with officers. She later went to the hospital to see her husband.

In a Wednesday morning media release, the Dubuque Police Department said investigators are still working to determine the incident's circumstances but have no reason to believe the general public is in danger.

The lieutenant on the scene Tuesday night said six police units were responding, including a canine unit. At midnight, two police officers were going door-to-door, questioning neighbors.
