Stoudemire injures hand after loss to Miami

New York Nicks forward Amare Stoudemire hit six of his nine field goal attempts Monday night, but the last thing he hit may have taken him out of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Stoudemire needed treatment and stitches from doctors and paramedics after cutting his left hand shortly after the Miami Heat beat the Nicks 104-94 to take a two-games-to-none lead in the NBA's Eastern Conference quarterfinals. He declined to discuss how he damaged his hand, although the glass portion of a fire-extinguisher near the Knicks' dressing room had to be replaced after the Nicks tied an NBA record with their 12th straight postseason loss.

Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 25 points and Chris Bosh added 21. LeBron James finished with 19 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Heat, who shot 9-for-21 from three-point range and committed just eight turnovers.

Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 30 points and had nine rebounds to help the Nicks stay close until the waning moments of the third quarter.

Game 3 is Thursday at Madison Square Garden, where the Nicks will try to win a playoff game for the first time in 11 years.
