Clippers stage amazing comeback in Memphis

The Los Angeles Clippers have opened their first NBA postseason in six years with an incredible comeback in Memphis.

The Clippers trailed by as many as 27 before closing on a 28-3 run to beat the Grizzlies, 99-98. Nick Young drained three three-pointers during a one-minute stretch late in the rally, and Chris Paul put the Clippers ahead to stay by hitting two free throws with 23.7 seconds left. Young finished with a team-high 19 points in 24 minutes off the bench, and Paul added 14 points and 11 assists.

Rudy Gay paced the Grizzlies with 19 points, including a basket with 28.4 seconds remaining to give Memphis its last lead. Gay also had another chance to win it until he missed a jumper in the final second.

Memphis led 84-57 with under two minutes to play in the third period. The Grizzlies will try to bounce back from the collapse when they host Game 2 on Wednesday.
