Female Dubuque police officer punched, man stabbed

A man faces several charges after a fight Friday morning in which a man was stabbed and a female Dubuque police officer was punched in the face.

Officers say they were on foot patrol in the 1800 block of White Street, when they saw a fight behind Club Rondavoo.

They say when they tried to break up the fight, Tremaine Ricky Walton Jr., 18, punched Officer Ann Kennedy in the face intentionally.  Despite being injured, police say Officer Kennedy got up and continued to gain control of the situation, but Walton had already left the scene.

Officers found him at 25th Street & Central Avenue, where he was arrested.

Police say Officer Kennedy suffered a broken jaw and a concussion.

After looking at surveillance tape of the fight, officers say they could clearly see Walton stabbing Corey Deanthony Billingsley, 24, several times before he punched Officer Kennedy.

Billingsley was treated at a local hospital and released.  He was then arrested and charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and interference with official acts.

Walton is charged with assault causing serious, attempted murder, public intoxication and persons prohibited from premises for being under 21-years old and in a bar after 9:00 p.m.  He was also served with two arrest warrants for third degree harassment and fifth degree theft.

Three other people were arrested and face charges.

Principal Lavelle Springer, 26, of Dubuque, is charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance.

Deondre Pierre Neealy, 26, of Dubuque, and Andrew John Pratt, 18, are both charged with disorderly conduct.
