IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A mother and daughter from Iowa City face theft charges after police say they conspired to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from a drug store.

Iowa City police say Pamela Sue Calkins, 58, who worked as a cashier at the Hy-Vee Drugstore at 310 North 1st Avenue, would allow her daughter, Amanda Denise Calkins, 27, to come through her check-out line and leave without paying for all of her items.

Store staff identified over $300 worth of merchandise that was never paid for, but says the total would be much higher because this had been going on for a year.

Amanda and Pamela Calkins are both charged with fourth degree theft.
