Governor Branstad speaks out against bullying

Governor Terry Branstad says Iowa needs to work harder to combat bullying.

This comes just more than a week after a Primghar, Iowa teenager committed suicide.

The family of 14-year-old Kenneth Weishuhn says he was pushed too far by bullies after revealing that he was gay.

Branstad spoke up Monday about the bullying issue.

"This is a difficult area for school districts, but it is critically important that we do everything we can to make sure that we safety and security for all of our student in the state of Iowa," said Branstad.

Iowa already has a law in place requiring schools to deal with bullying, but Governor Branstad says it's also necessary for the state to review all district plans and help assure that schools are taking action.
