UPDATE: Davenport man charged in Iowa City bank robbery

A suspected bank robber was arrested Monday in Iowa City following a chase and manhunt.

Police say Eric Martin, 34, of Davenport, walked into the Hills Bank branch at 1401 S. Gilbert Street with a gun Monday morning, got cash, and then took off on a motorcycle.  Police say Martin threatened customers and employees with a gun, even pointing it in several people's faces.

Police say Martin then drove recklessly through yards, on sidewalks and on bike trails, trying to escape.

After a search that stretched from the Lodge Apartments to the 900 block of Harlocke Street, Martin was caught in the area of Woodberry Court.  Police say he tried to pull a loaded handgun on officers, but was knocked to the ground.

Several schools in the area were on lock down as police searched for the man.

Authorities think Martin may also be involved in three other bank robberies in Iowa City.

Two Iowa City police officers were treated for minor injuries after taking Martin into custody.

Martin is charged with first degree robbery, possession of a firearm as a felon, interference with official acts, carrying weapons and eluding.
