UNI softball sweeps Missouri State

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

After 8 scoreless innings, UNI busted out the offense taking down Missouri State 5-1 in game one as they'd proceed to sweep the Bears in Saturday's doubleheader.

UNI sophomore Jamie Fisher pitched 8 scoreless innings before giving up a solo home run in the top of the 9th.  Fisher finished the game with 10 strikeouts.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th, freshman Julia Hunter singled to score Whitney Plein tying the game at 1 apiece.  Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Gina Brown drove a ball deep over the wall in centerfield for a walk-off grand slam.

The Panthers again rallied from a 5-4 6th inning deficit to win game 2 7-6.

The sweep moved UNI to 17-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
