DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

A bill on when schools should start classes will not be considered in the Iowa Senate, one Iowa state senator said.

The House bill would prohibit school districts from beginning classes before the fourth Monday in August.

Dubuque Democrat Pam Jochum told our partners at the Telegraph Herald that the bill will not be considered in the Senate.

She said it is a local control issue that is best left for school boards to determine.
