RoughRiders season ends in Youngstown


The Youngstown Phantoms recorded their first playoff series victory Tuesday night, but it was at the expense of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

Alex Gacek scored two goals in the second period for the Phantoms and added an empty netter in the third for his first USHL career hat trick in the 6-2 win.  Austin Cangelosi also added an empty netter for the Phantoms.

Davey Middleton and Gerald Mayhew scored for the RoughRiders.

Jake Hildebrand stopped 34 of 38 shots for the RoughRiders, while Matthew O'Connor kept 30 of 32 shots out of the net for the Phantoms.

Youngstown now heads to Green Bay to begin the best-of-five series with the Gamblers on Saturday.
