Community service is simply a way of life for Jim Coloff and his employees at Cedar Falls radio station, KCVM-FM.

That's why Coloff's popular 93.5 The Mix has once again been honored by the National Association of Broadcasters with a Crystal Radio Award for Outstanding Community Service.

This NAB award is so prestigious, only ten radio stations in the United States receive the honor each year. Keep in mind, there are more than 12,000 radio stations in the United States.

93.5 The Mix has won the Crystal Award three consecutive times.

KCVM-FM Mid-way host, Teri Lynn, attended the NAB Awards luncheon in Las Vegas as accepted the award on behalf of the radio station. Says Teri Lynn, "I am so proud to work in local radio and be able to support so many worthy causes in the Cedar Valley."

The NAB Crystal Radio Award selection committee noted the station's ongoing commitment to its local charity, Magical Mix Kids. Each fall, Magical Mix Kids sends chronically ill children and their families on a free vacation to Disneyworld in Florida. KCVM-FM also began a new celebration last year called Oktoberfest 2011, which drew a crowd of some 7,500 people and also raised more than $ 5,000 for Cedar Valley charities.

93.5 The Mix owner and General Manager, Jim Coloff, says, "We are very honored to win this prestigious national award." Coloff added, "Thank you to our hard working staff, and to the many listeners who have supported the Mix and the community events we are involved with. The Cedar Valley is a truly great place to be."

Here is a list of the other 9 radio stations honored with The Crystal Radio Award this year.
