Red hot Black Hawks open playoffs Monday

Posted:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The postseason opens Monday night, and it couldn't have come at a better time for the Waterloo Black Hawks.

Waterloo stormed into the playoffs with a solid 6-4 victory Saturday night over the Cedar Rapids Roughriders.  That marked the 11th win for the Black Hawks in their last 13 games.  Plus, since March 1st, the team's 12-4 record is tied with Green Bay for the best mark over that time span.

Opening the postseason, Waterloo plays host to Tri-City, a team they held a 3-1 advantage over during the regular season.  The only loss came all the way back in mid-January.

The Black Hawks will be looking to erase the disappointment from a season ago when Indiana swept them from the playoffs in the first round.

The puck drops Monday night at 7:05 PM in Young Arena.
