Lutheran quilt ingathering - KWWL - Eastern Iowa Breaking News, Weather, Closings

Area churches gather goods for those in need

Saturday morning dozens of northeast Iowa churches came together to help people around the world who are in need.

Nearly 80 Lutheran churches collected quilts, personal care items and other household goods to send to people all over the world that need them.

This 'ingathering' of supplies happens in the spring and in the fall, and was hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

They were able to load this semi with nearly 3000 quilts, 243 pounds of soap and other supplies.

The supplies will first go to the Twin Cities - where they will be combined with items collected by other churches before being shipped to various points across the globe.
