Polar Plunge held in Cedar Valley

On Saturday afternoon, brave souls from the Cedar Valley took a dip for charity.

About 130 Eastern Iowans plunged into the still chilly waters of George Wyth lake to raise money for the Iowa Special Olympics.

There was music from Checker and the Bluetones, food and a costume contest.

Organizers hope to match last year's total of 14,000 dollars.

Similar polar plunges have been held in the last few weeks at Coralville lake and in Cedar Rapids as well.
