All-American Bowl all-star football game Saturday night in the UNI Dome

It's college football at its best, as the Cedar Valley Sports Commission plays host to the 2012 All-American College Football All-Star Bowl game this Saturday night, April 14, in the UNI Dome.

This year's All-American Bowl is a showcase of Division II and III college seniors and free agents is being sponsored locally by the non-profit Cedar Valley Sports Commission.

Kickoff is 6:05 Saturday night in the UNI Dome, preceded by a football combine for quarterbacks, wide receivers and kickers.

In the past 15-years, more than 200 All-American Bowl participants, like punter Chris Hanson of Marshall University, have taken their football careers beyond the All-American Bowl. Hanson had a 12-year National Football League career with the New England Patriots.

The all-American Bowl began in 1996, as a way to highlight the nation's top Division II and III college football players.

Wartburg College Quarterback, Danny Stiefel, will be among the all-stars playing on the Dome turf Saturday night, along with University of Dubuque Quarterback, Jermar Jackson, and Defensive Player of the Year, Anthony Rouba, of Saint Joseph College.

Says an All-American Bowl spokesman, "For the fans in and around the Waterloo Cedar Falls area, the all-American Bowl is an opportunity to see outstanding football, and for the players, the game could be the culmination of a great football career, or the beginning of a new one."

Tickets will be available at the UNI Dome Saturday night, with kickoff at 6:05.
