Waterloo Police arrest two after drug investigation

Two people from Waterloo are facing a number of drug and gun charges after authorities searched their home Thursday morning.

The Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) executed a search warrant at the home of Donald Reed, 1320 Randolph Street in Waterloo at 11:35 a.m. Thursday.

During the search, they found a .45-caliber handgun with the serial number scratched off and a 9mm handgun that were both fully loaded.  They also took a large amount of crack cocaine, powder cocaine and marijuana from the home.

Police say two children, ages two and three, were in the home at the time of the search.

Reed, 27, is facing charges of possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver more than 10 grams while in immediate possession of a firearm, drug tax stamp violation, possession of a firearm as a felon, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and two counts of child endangerment. 

Alicia Buchanan, 24, of Waterloo, is charged with possession of firearm as a felon, possession of marijuana and two counts of child endangerment. 

Both are in the Black Hawk County Jail.
