Don Showalter, one of the most successful, accomplished, storied basketball coaches in the history of Iowa basketball will take over the City High Boys Basketball program pending ICCSD board approval.  At the state level, Coach Showalter has been named coach of the year nine times, he has 562 career wins, and he has taken six teams to the IHSAA State Tournament.  Nationally, Coach Showalter has been a member of the McDonald's All American Game Selection Committee, he has been the head coach for the McDonald's All American Game, he coached the USA Basketball National Teams to gold medals in 2009-10-11, and he will be the Head Coach of the U17 USA team at the 2012 World Championships to be played this summer in Lithuania.
 
Coach Showalter was named 2009 National Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association, in 2010 he was name State and Regional Coach of they Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations, and he was named USA Basketball Developmental Coach of the Year in 2009, 2010, 2011, the only coach in the history of USA Basketball to receive the award three times.

    Just hours after landing in Taipei the Iowa baseball team got right down to business, posting a 10-5 win over the Czech National Team in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. The Hawkeyes, representing team USA at the World University Games, got a pair of 3-run home runs out of Robert Neustrom to clinch the victory.

    Missouri Valley Tournament extends Scottrade Center agreement

    The Missouri Valley Conference exercised an option to keep the men's basketball tournament in Saint Louis through at least 2020. The previous agreement ended in 2018 with a two year to remain at the Scottrade Center. The tournament, known as Arch Madness, will conduct it's 30th straight tournament in Saint Louis in 2020.
