Police say Xuefan Tang, 57, and Li Qiao, 49, the parents of Peng Tang, arrived in Iowa late last week and asked a friend of their son's to find the victim in the kidnapping case and "persuade" her to change her story. Police say that the parents were willing to pay the victim to change her story.
Their son is charged with kidnapping and sexual abuse for an incident on March 29.
According to police, the victim invited Tang to her apartment because she was trying to sublet it. The victim tells police that Tang, locked her in the bedroom and sexually assaulted her after trying to tie her hands behind her back and put a towel in her mouth.
Police say Peng admitted to assaulting the woman.
One of the victim's friends told her what Tang's parents were trying to do and she told police.
