Dubuque man pleads guilty to lying to authorities

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

A 30-year-old Dubuque mans faces up to five years in federal prison for lying to an immigration officer.

Richard Weber pleaded guilty Thursday. He admitted to lying to an Immigration and Customs agent when asked about an illegal immigrant who worked for Weber's concrete business.

Weber told the agent in February 2010 that the worker had been laid off and that he had not talked to him since. But officials say the worker was still employed by Weber. The worker ran away avoiding immigration authorities.

No sentencing date has been set.
