Judge says Grand Jury weighing heavily on Sandusky case

The judge overseeing Jerry Sandusky's child sex-abuse case says an ongoing secret grand jury investigation into the former Penn State assistant football coach is complicating preparations for his trial.

In a brief pretrial hearing Thursday, Judge John Cleland said he wouldn't issue a decision on a request for the charges against Sandusky to be dismissed until next week at the earliest.

Cleland and the lawyers met behind closed doors after the hearing to set deadline dates for disclosure of other information before trial, including anything resulting from the ongoing grand jury investigation.

Lawyers resolved some outstanding issues before the 20-minute hearing.

The 68-year-old Sandusky faces 52 counts for alleged sexual abuse of 10 boys over 15 years. He's on home arrest awaiting trial in early June, and denies the charges.
