Waterloo man arrested for holding woman against her will

A Waterloo man has been arrested after being accused of holding a woman against her will.

Waterloo Police arrested Joshua Pankey, 33, of Waterloo, on Monday night after they say he held his girlfriend hostage in her apartment in the 3300 block of Parkridge Road in Waterloo.

Police were called to the apartment at around 11:15 a.m. to check on the 29-year-old woman. She told police her boyfriend tried to sexually assault her and held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her and her kids. She says Pankey also tore her clothing off, tried to strangle her with a belt and threatened to burn her with a lit cigarette.  

Pankey was arrested and charged with willful injury, first degree harassment, assault/domestic abuse and assault to commit sexual abuse.
