Entries needed for Waterloo Memorial Day parade May 28

Attention all float-creators and calling all Veterans.

The call is going out early for entries in the annual Waterloo Memorial Day Parade. Organizers from the American Legion Becker-Chapman Post 138 in Waterloo, hope to have a record number of Memorial Day Parade floats for the event May 28, in downtown Waterloo.

All floats are free and Veterans are invited to ride or walk with their war-ear wagon in the parade. There is no charge to participate, but parade organizers, Deb Henry and Dale Hixson, would like to have all parade entries in May 10.

If you or your organization would like to participate in the Waterloo Memorial Day Parade, contact Deb Henry at 319-233-5037 or Dale Hixson at 319-233-2236.

The parade will begin at 10:30 am that Monday morning, May 28,  while the parade lineup on May 28 will begin at 9:30 am, in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot, at the corner of West 5th and Commercial Streets in downtown Waterloo.

Parade-goers are also invited to attend the annual Memorial Day program at Memorial Hall immediately following the parade. Veterans Hall is located between West 4th and 5th Streets, on the west bank of the Cedar River.

In addition, The American Legion Becker-Chapman Post 138 invites everyone to help them put out American flags at Veterans graves in area cemeteries on Friday, May 25. If you are interested in helping out, call Deb Henry or Dale Hixson at the phone numbers listed earlier.
