A judge has found Glen Jackson guilty of killing his roommate and setting her house on fire.

On Jan. 31, 2011, emergency crews responded to a house fire at 2861 Logan Avenue. Inside, they found the body of 57-year-old Sandra Jo Nash.

Police arrested 50-year-old Jackson and charged him with first degree arson and first degree murder.

Police say Nash died from blunt force trauma, and that Jackson had a large amount of blood and gasoline on his clothing. Police also found a hammer in the area where Nash's body was found. Police say Jackson admitted to arguing with Nash and pushing her down.

Jackson was also injured in the fire and was hospitalized at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics prior to his arrest for arson.

A Black Hawk County judge sentenced Jackson to life in prison on the murder charge with an extra 25 years for the arson charge.  He is not eligible for parole.
