Iowa Public Health Week begins Monday


Governor Terry Branstad has labeled the week of April 2nd through April 8th as Iowa Public Health Week.

In 1995, former president Bill Clinton proclaimed the first full week of every April as National Public Health Week.

Officials say the week is an opportunity to remind people each of they contribute to the overall wellness of the state.

In addition, The American Public Health Association has designated a theme for each day of the week this year.

Monday, April 2: Active Living and healthy eating

Tuesday, April 3:  Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs

Wednesday, April 4: Communicable diseases

Thursday, April 5: Reproductive and sexual health

Friday, April 6: Mental and emotional well being
