Severe Weather Awareness week in Iowa

The Iowa Homeland Security and National Weather Service have designated the week of April 2nd through April 6th Severe Weather Awareness week.

During the week, the Black Hawk County Emergency Management Agency will be part of a statewide tornado drill.

This year, sirens will sound off about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to coincide with the test warning throughout the state.

Experts say the peak tornado season happens during the months of March through August and happen most frequently at 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
