Mild weather jumpstarts outdoor projects in Iowa

A mild winter, and now a warm spring, are jump-starting outdoor projects.

Many landscaping companies were able to work through the winter months, making up for a lack of business on the snow removal side of things.

Do-it-yourselfers, like Scott Parsons, are also taking advantage of warmer spring weather. Parsons is beginning a complete landscape overhaul in front of his Waterloo business.

Even though he was hoping it would be a little warmer out today, he's happy to start the project earlier than expected.

"I thought it was going to be sunny and 72, but it's much better that it's just a little cooler when you're doing this kind of work. Tomorrow they're saying it's going to be 84 and hot and humid. That'll make this quite a bit tougher," he said.
