A Hills man faces several charges after Iowa City police say he tried to run his wife and kids off the road.

Brian Laschke, 29, is charged with domestic abuse/assault with intent, child endangerment, first degree harassment and driving while barred for the incident that happened on March 17.

Iowa City police say that after getting into an argument with Laschke, his wife put their children into a vehicle and started driving to Iowa City to stay with relatives.  They say Laschke got into another vehicle and chased her.

Witnesses told police that Laschke tried to run his wife's vehicle off the road.

At one point following a near collision, police say the wife came to a complete stop and Laschke got out of his vehicle and punched the windshield, breaking it.  The wife drove away.

A criminal complaint says that while police were looking for Laschke, he called his wife numerous times trying to apologize and convince her not to report him to police.  Officers were able to talk to Laschke on the on the phone and issued him a harassment warning.  Police say he ignored that warning and at one point implied that he would kill her over this incident.

Laschke remained in custody on Friday, pending $30,000 bail.
