NICC to host three-hour discussion on The Affordable Care Act April 26


Iowa Workforce Development will host a healthcare reform discussion on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its impact on Iowa employers.

The three-hour discussion will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2-5 pm at the Town Clock Center, Professional Development, downtown site of Northeast Iowa Community College. That's located at 680 Main Street, in downtown Dubuque.

The session will take the form of a panel discussion entitled, "Impact on Iowa: The Affordable Care Act," and is being sponsored by the Employers Council of Northeast Iowa, Community College of Iowa, Community Educators, the Greater Des Moines Partnership and local Chambers, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, One Source training and Iowa Workforce Development.

Eight experts will make up the panel, and will include presenters from the world of healthcare, business, law, finance, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S Department of Health and Human Services.

One of the key areas of discussion will be the key points of the Affordable Care Act, and how it changes the way employers provide benefits. The discussion will also look at the key tax implications and how to capitalize on tax incentives.

Several other key issues will also be addressed, including what health insurance reform implementation will look like in Iowa, and the impact the Act has on Iowa's small and mid-sized employers.

The cost for the entire session is $40.00 and includes approved Continuing Education credits for the following groups:  Social Workers, Nurses, Nursing Home Administrators, Insurance Producers and HRCI Strategic Business Recertification Credit.
