UNI Kicks off spring football

The UNI football program opens spring practices today with one of the most challenging seasons ahead of it in the fall.

The Panthers open their schedule on September 8th with a trip to Madison to face the defending Big Ten Champion Wisconsin Badgers. And then two weeks later UNI travels to Kinnick for a game against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Today head coach Mark Farley and the Panthers hit the ground running.

Farley and his staff will have to replace several key members of last year's Missouri Valley Conference co-champions-- including quarterback Tirrell Rennie, offensive tackle Jay Tepley, and All-Americans, Ben Boothby and L.J Fort on the defensive side of the football.

On top of that--Farley also has had to replace a couple of members of his defensive staff-- defensive coordinator Jovan Dewitt and secondary coach Blue Adams. The Panthers hold their spring football game on Friday April 27th.
