Black Hawk Co. 4-H breakfast raises big bucks

Hundreds gathered in Waterloo for a fresh cooked breakfast to help a county-wide youth program Sunday morning.   The Black Hawk County 4-H held its 18th annual omelette breakfast.  Our own Jeff Kennedy and about 30 others cooked up more than 1000 made to order omelettes at the UAW Hall in Waterloo.  The event is expected to raise more than $10,000, with proceeds going to the 4-H Foundation.

"It goes to our Black Hawk County Fair, which is in July.  4-H basically just helps people grow, get leadership and community skills, helps them be a better person on the whole, and help society later in life," said Kayla Wiley with Black Hawk Co. 4-H.

This year, the 4-H will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Black Hawk County Fair.  The group is interested in getting memorabilia from past members as part of the celebration.  To learn more, call the Black Hawk County extension office at 319-234-6811.
