Suspect injured in officer-involved shooting in Boone

Sunday morning the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Boone Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation continue to investigate a shooting incident involving several law enforcement officials.

On March 24 at 10:48 p.m. a Boone County deputy and two officers with the Boone Police Department went to 827 South Division Street in Boone, to further investigate a previous incident.

At the house, officers spoke with two individuals. During the conversations, one man ran from the residence.

The two Boone Police officers pursued the man through the yard. The man then turned on officers and pointed a handgun at them.

Officers fired multiple rounds, striking the subject. He was immediately transported to the Boone County Hospital and airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for treatment. The condition of the man isn't known at this time.

The two Boone Police officers were not injured in the incident. Both have been placed on administrative leave per department policy.
