Waterloo Warriors rout Pinnacle, Arizona, to move to finals

The Waterloo Warriors came to play, and their opponent just looked overmatched.  Waterloo scored the first 6 goals of the game en route to a 10-1 drubbing of Pinnacle High School of Arizona.  The win puts the Warriors in the finals of the USA Hockey High School Championships.

Connor Hyde opened the scoring grabbing a rebound off the end boards and back-handing it into the net.  Just 57 seconds later, Jacob Sessler added the second goal of the period scooping one past the Pinnacle goaltender into the back of the net.  Hyde quickly tallied his second goal on a slap shot as the Warriors led 3-0 less than halfway through the first period.

Jake Lichty ended the first period scoring with his first goal of the night as Waterloo led 4-0 after the first.

Waterloo's Austin Jackson made a big impact picking up one goal in the second and two in the third to tally the hat trick.  Bryce Frost, Jon Skarlis, and Rhodes Dolan rounded out the Warrior scorers.

Waterloo will face Regis Jesuit High School, the Colorado state champions, at 9 AM on Sunday with the title on the line.
