DES MOINES (KWWL) -

A democratic State Senator challenging Congressman Dave Loebsack for a seat in Washington, D.C. has hit a road block.

State Senator Joe Seng's candidacy for U.S. Congress has been challenged.

Seng was planning on squaring off against Loebsack on June 5 for the democratic ballot in Iowa's second congressional district. But on Friday, the secretary of state's office notified second district auditors that an objection has been filed to the nomination petition of Seng.

Secretary of State Matt Schultz, Attorney General Tom Miller, and State Auditor David Vaudt plan to meet on Monday morning for a hearing on the matter.

The reason for the objection has not been made public yet.
