Fayette County investigating billboard vandalism


The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is looking for those responsible for vandalizing a billboard used to bring attention to the problem of underage drinking and driving.

The sheriff's office says they were told on Friday that someone had spray painted the billboard which sits between Elgin and Clermont on Highway W51.

The billboard was put up by the Valley Community Coalition and Students OK Without Drugs and Alcohol.

The sheriff's office estimates that it will cost around $500 to fix or replace the billboard.

Those responsible face a charge of fourth degree criminal mischief.
