BREMER COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Iowa State Patrol says fog may have played a factor in Friday morning's crash involving two semis at the intersection of Highways 63 and 3.

Troopers say a semi driven Larry Newby of Hubbard, Texas was headed north on Highway 63 just before 8:00 a.m. Friday.  Newby stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 3 and the proceeded into the intersection and was struck by another semi, driven by Jon Lyons of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Troopers say it was foggy and Lyons failed to stop at the stop sign.

The intersection was closed for several hours.

Newby, along with Kathleen Baker of Lynwood, Washington and Pearl Popejoy of Obetz, Ohio, were injured in the crash.  All were taken to Allen Hospital.
