DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Iowans may soon have fewer printed maps.

The Iowa House has voted to cut funding to printed maps.

They say that move would save about $240,000.

Officials say demand for the maps is declining with a growth in the use of GPS-equipped devices.

The Iowa Department of Transportation had 1.4 million maps printed at 13 cents apiece in 2012.

The DOT will now print 800, 000 maps with most of those being distributed at rest stops.
