UPDATE: Man charged in stabbing on George Wyth bike trail

Waterloo and Cedar Falls police are investigating a stabbing that happened on the bike trail at George Wyth State Park Monday afternoon.

Captain Tim Pillack says a woman reported being stabbed just after 2:00 p.m.  She was taken to Covenant Medical Center.  The extent of her injuries are unknown but police say she is expected to survive.

Cedar Falls police say that the woman ran to Pfeiffer Springs Park where she was met by officers and an ambulance.

Police say a man matching the victim's description was located near the scene of the stabbing with a knife.

Police have charged that man, 19-year-old Blake Andrew Houser of Waterloo, with willful injury, carrying weapons and going armed with intent.

After interviewing Houser, police have also charged him in an assault along the bike trail near Highway 63 and Martin Road in 2011. Houser is charged with going armed with intent, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, assault with intent and carrying weapons for an assault in that incident.
