Subaru Foresters recalled for seat belt problem

DETROIT (KWWL) -

Subaru is recalling more than 275,000 Forester SUVs to fix a seatbelt problem. The recall includes 2009 to 2012 Foresters manufactured from November 26, 2007 through March13, 2012.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website says the rear center seat belt does not meet federal safety standards. The automatic locking retractor in the seat belt assembly may not hold a child's safety seat in place securely. This may lead to an increased risk of injury in a crash.

Subaru will contact Forester owners about the recall. Dealers will replace the rear center seat belt assembly for free starting April 13. Owners can contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
