Cedar Rapids attorney gets 15 days for cocaine possession

A Cedar Rapids attorney found in possession of crack cocaine will spend 15 days in jail.

Stanley A. Roush, 52, pleaded guilty on federal court December 13 to possession of crack cocaine after a prior drug possession conviction. He had previously been convicted in federal court for marijuana possession.

In his plea agreement, Roush admitted that he purchased $200 worth of crack cocaine at an apartment complex in northeast Cedar Rapids.  Police officers saw Roush purchase the drugs and confronted him when he stopped at a gas station.  When he saw officers approaching, Roush threw the drugs in the back seat and told officers that he had swallowed it.  The crack cocaine was later found by officers during a search of the vehicle.

Roush was sentenced to 15 days in jail a $2,500.00 fine and 1-year of supervised release.

Roush was released on bond and will surrender to the United States Marshal on a date to be determined.
