Coggon farmer pleads guilty to $7 million fraud

An eastern Iowa farmer has pleaded guilty to swindling nearly seven million dollars from his bank.

58-year-old David LeClere of Coggon admits he gave the bank false information each month, about how many hogs he had, how much they weighed, and falsely inflating his accounts receivable by reporting packing plants owed him more money than they did.

He says he also re deposited checks he had already received as payment from packing plants.

He's free on bond, but could spend a maximum of 30 years in prison plus fines.
